Description

This amazingly fresh and tasty Chinese 5 Spice Tofu Stir Fry is entirely vegan and gluten free. An easy and satisfying recipe for a tofu stir fry which is packed with lots of flavors and nutrients.

Ingredients

  • 14 oz tofu, pressed and cut into cubes
  • 1 broccoli
  • 1 Tbs Chinese 5 Spice
  • 4 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/4 cup tamari
  • salt, pepper to taste

Optional:

  • 1 cup chopped bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped cashews
  • 2 tsp maple syrup

Instructions

  1. First mix all the marinade ingredients (orange juice,  Chinese 5 spice mix, tamari, garlic) in a bowl and set aside.
  2. Heat a bit oil (coconut or sesame is fine) or use a bit of vegetable broth, if you want to make to make this oil free. Add tofu and fry for around 10 minutes until golden and crisp. Put the tofu out of the pan.
  3. Next give the broccoli and optional chopped bell pepper to the pan, again with a bit of oil or vegetable broth and fry for around 5 minutes. Add tofu and put the stir fry sauce into the pan and cook for 5 minutes more.
  4. Season with salt and pepper add the optional maple syrup and chopped cashews.
