What’s in this baked spaghetti

As you can see it’s super easy and done in no time. As always I’m sure this will become a keeper to enhance your repertoire of easy dinner recipes for family: for the basic version it only takes 6 ingredients not counting salt and pepper:

  • spaghetti
  • marinara sauce
  • vegan cream cheese
  • minced garlic
  • chopped onions
  • vegan cheese shreds

You can of course make this Spaghetti Casserole a bit fancier by adding the following add ons:

  • chopped bell pepper
  • cooked chickpeas
  • Italian seasoning

Italian seasoning is a great way to add even more flavor to this dish but it is totally up to you.

You see it’s beyond easy with pantry staples that are widely available or you have already stocked in your kitchen.

How to make baked spaghetti casserole

Seriously it is the only recipe you need and really want to make. Plus it’s so easy to know how to make spaghetti casserole this way.

Start by cooking your spaghetti according the package directions. After cooking, remove them from the pot and drain.

Heat a bit of oil or vegetable broth, add chopped onions, minced garlic, optional chopped bell pepper, and fry for around 2 minutes. Give the spaghetti sauce aka marinara, vegan cream cheese to the pot and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 3 minutes more until warm, add optional extras, if you like, cooked chickpeas, Italian seasoning.

Next and last add the spaghetti back and mix everything until combined. Transfer all to a 8×11 inch casserole dish. Then sprinkle vegan cheese shreds over it and bake for around 10 minutes at 415°F.

Serve on plates or bowls, yum.

It makes such a fantastic meatless spaghetti casserole that will make all vegan spaghetti dreams come true in no time.

But I have to say no matter if vegan or not, everyone will love this. It is the perfect recipe for lunch, dinner, meal prep, quick meals for kids, healthy meal prep at any work. Don’t use the food courts, that are not filling and really expensive for a small portion. Rather make your own baked spaghetti which are filling and budget friendly.

Tips and variations for this spaghetti casserole aka million dollar spaghetti

Leftover spaghetti are the best for a spaghetti casserole. Simply add your pre cooked noodles and enjoy less preparation time.

Need more variety being tired of tomato sauce? Just make a spaghetti casserole with cream of mushroom soup, best with my Roasted Chickpeas Cream of Mushroom Soup.

Need another flavor? Add a dairy free cream cheese with sun-dried tomatoes or other herbs and you got more variety in no time.

Also you can make Thai noodles! Just add my Thai Peanut Sauce with Basil, leave out the vegan cheese shreds and add some crushed peanuts on top and bake. So this is definitely worth a try and a great makeover for this spaghetti casserole.

Ingredients

  • 10 oz spaghetti (use gluten free pasta, if you want)
  • 16 oz marinara sauce
  • 3 gloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup vegan cream cheese
  • 1/2  chopped onions
  • 1 cup vegan cheese shreds
  • salt, pepper to taste

 Optional add ons:

  • 3/4 cup chopped bell pepper
  • 1 cup cooked and drained chickpeas
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
