Reasons to love Pizza Burgers

I slice the buns in half and this comes in handy to feed a larger crowd. Simply you get more portions out of one bun.

Pizza Burgers is a really budget friendly recipe which is also great for entertaining. You can’t go wrong, because if you are not sure what to make and serve this it is.

Everyone will love this combination of simple flavors and comfort food.

What you need for this Pizza Burgers recipe

Let’s start with vegan ground beef: makes a really delicious and amazing meaty base as you know from my Cowboy Stew or the Salisbury Steak.

Pizza sauce as an ingredient is wonderful, because tomato sauce is runnier and cooked. Pizza sauce is uncooked and let me tell you tastes better on pizzas.

Garlic, onions and Italian Herbs are what makes our sauce so flavorful and delicious. You add tons of flavors in no time.

Hamburger buns are used instead of pizza dough. Simply use any buns that you like.

Finally, as a topping, vegan mozzarella melts greatly and tastes delicious.

How to make Pizza Burgers

Preheat oven to 420F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

To make the sauce, start with heating olive oil in a pan. When hot, add diced onions and fry them for about two minutes. Add then also the ground beef and press the garlic, let cook for 3 minutes more.

Mix the pizza sauce into the meat mixture and season with Italian herbs and a pinch salt and pepper. Cook for 2 minutes more.

Slice burger buns in half and distribute on the baking sheet. Give the meat sauce from the pan on the bun halves, and sprinkle some cheese on top. Repeat until everything is used.

Finally, bake for around 10 minutes, then serve hot and enjoy.

What to do with leftovers?

I usually tell you that you can use leftovers, but these Pizza Burgers are best fresh, hot from the oven. Indeed any leftovers? No problem I just said what tastes most delicious, but you can absolutely have leftovers in the fridge for around 3 days.

Reheat for about 8 minutes at 300F in the preheated oven.

Alternatively, you can reheat the Pizza Burgers in the microwave for around 1 minute.

How to freeze Pizza Burgers?

Pizza Burgers are great to make as a bigger batch and you can easily freeze up individually portions. To do that, let them cool completely, wrap cinq wrap around the burgers and put them into freezer bags.

This way you have them for 3 months ready whenever you want. Great for breakfast, dinner, lunch or in between.

Tips and tricks:

You can make the sauce 2 days in advance.

Use oregano instead of Italian herbs.

For a little bit heat add crushed red pepper.
