I tell you I go often to restaurants just for the salsa. There is something about salsa and chips. Call it a dinner or lunch for me, I’m all in.

Jarred salsa is delicious and oh boy so convenient, but I find there is nothing as good as homemade salsa.

Reasons to love this Restaurant Style Salsa

I love that you can add as much texture as you like. You can go for a chunkier or smoother salsa. This way you have the right texture to your taste and preferences.

What comes in handy is that I will show you different preparation methods: with a food processor, blender or without any equipment.

This Restaurant Style Salsa has big flavor in each and any bite.

What you need for this Restaurant Style Salsa Recipe

I’m going to use garlic which is essential for flavor. Besides that you will need the following:

Diced tomatoes: I use canned ones which have really great taste and quality so there is no need for me to use them fresh. You can absolutely use fresh tomatoes if you have them sitting in your garden to use.

Lime juice adds great acidity which makes our salsa fresh and so great tasting. I squeeze my limes freshly, but lime juice will totally work as well.

Cumin, canned jalapenos and sugar: cumin is here for a great earthy flavor, while canned jalapenos make sure to add a little bit of heat. This Restaurant Style Salsa is by not means a spicy salsa, yet it is really flavorful and delicious, friends. Sugar is here to balance acidity and makes the whole flavor profile well rounded and great.

What is salsa without cilantro? Yes I know people either love it or do not care for it, but I tell you it is really delicious with all the other ingredients.

How to make Restaurant Style Salsa

Get the bowl of a food processor and add diced tomatoes, garlic, lime juice, cumin, jalapenos, and sugar. Season with a pinch salt and pepper.

Pulse a couple of times for a more chunky texture or give it more pulses to make your Restaurant Style Salsa entirely smooth.

Add cilantro and pulse one more time until incorporated.

Transfer to a serving bowl enjoy immediately. To store for later, out it in the fridge for 7 days with a lid on top.

Tips and tricks

As I mentioned here are some other preparations for Restaurant Style Salsa:

Blender: Blenders are stronger than food processors so I would say just pulse very carefully until the desired texture is reached. Otherwise the result can be turned out too smooth. Add salsa ingredients into the bowl of your blender and pulse which you do best manually. Finally add cilantro and do one more pulse.

Immersion blender: add everything into a bowl and use an immersion blender until preferred result is accomplished.

Without any equipment: please make sure to chop your cilantro really, really fine. Give everything including cilantro to a bowl use a potato masher or fork and mash to desired result.

Notes

  • Leftovers will stay fresh for around 7 days.
  • Preparation with a blender: Add all the ingredients except cilantro in a blender and pulse a couple of times. Last goes the cilantro with a pulse until combined. Keep in mind most blenders are stronger than food processors. Pulsing manually will lead to a better texture that you can always control.
  • Preparation with an Immersion blender: In a bowl add everything beside cilantro and use an immersion blender until result is to your taste. Mix in cilantro.
  • Preparation without equipment: Make sure to chop cilantro, jalapenos and garlic really fine and add with all other ingredients to a bowl. Use a potato masher or fork mash until you can tell this is the texture you are looking for.
