Tips and tricks

Always make sure the oil is hot when frying. Only this way you will get the best results.

Baked cauliflower: you can make a oven version. For this preheat oven to 425°F and after marinating the cauliflower use a bit oil on top, but honestly the result will be different.

It will work but the result will not be as crispy and texture perfect which you only can reach with frying.

This Bang Bang Cauliflower recipe is 100% vegan.

Can I made these in a air fryer? I haven’t tried that because I don’t own an air fryer myself, but I would say why not. I heard that all the time you can achieve crispy results with an air fryer as well. Let me know how it goes, can’t wait for your feedback guys.

Can I freeze this? I wouldn’t recommend it, because it will get mushy and you’ve never get the texture right.

But instead you can make them ahead and store them in the fridge for around 3 days covered and fry later.

Hi! I tried this in the air fryer and it came out great! So for about 1/3 of it I tried with the skillet and oil and just felt like it was too much oil for me (not that it was greasy or anything - I’m just trying to cut back on frying stuff right now) so went ahead and threw it in the air fryer. I added some extra panko breadcrumbs and used spray oil to lightly coat them and threw it in the air fryer at 400 degrees for 8 minutes, shaking in between! It has that extra crunch if you can space them out and cut it into 2-3 separate batches. It came out delicious and I love this recipe!! Also drizzled some extra bang bang sauce on it because that stuff is delicious!

I made these this evening and the flavour and bang bang sauce is delicious, however when I went to cook the cauliflower all of the batter came off. Not sure what I did wrong.

Hi Michelle! I guess this might happen when the cauliflower isn't dry enough. Please use always dry cauliflower florets after washing and cleaning your cauliflower. This makes sure the batter will hold properly. Also the oil must be really hot when frying.
