This Totchos recipe uses frozen tater tots to make it as easy as it can be. It is flavorful with buffalo sauce and meaty with vegan chicken bites. It is an amazing combo, topped with ranch dressing and scallions, to make it over the top delicious.

What you need for this Totchos recipe

  • Tater tots
  • Vegan butter
  • Hot sauce
  • Vegan cheese
  • Vegan chicken bites
  • Chili powder
  • Smoked paprika
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder

Optional you can add on top:

  • Scallions
  • Ranch dressing

Toasted tater tots are mixed with hot spice mixture in a large mixing bowl.

Tater tots have been transferred to a large round casserole dish and then topped with vegan cheese.

How to make Totchos

Preheat oven to 400°F.

On a baking sheet prepared with parchment paper, lay down your tater tots and distribute them evenly. Bake according the directions.

Meanwhile in a pan, heat vegan butter and add vegan chicken. Fry for 3 minutes, then add hot sauce, garlic and onion powder. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper and let cook for 5 minutes more.

After tater tots are ready season them with chili powder, smoked paprika and a good amount of salt and pepper.

Transfer tots to a casserole dish, top them with 3/4 of the vegan cheese. Give the buffalo chicken mix over the top, and sprinkle with vegan cheese.

Bake for around 6 minutes until cheese is melted. Serve on plates or in bowls, optionally with scallions and ranch dressing on top.

Spicy vegan chicken mixture is added to the casserole and topped with the remaining vegan cheese.

Tips and tricks

Serve the Totchos hot, and do not reheat or use as leftovers. These are most amazing and served fresh.

Try this homemade Buffalo Sauce.

Use different vegan cheeses like cheddar, mozzarella. I guess parmesan will also work beautifully.

  • 6 oz vegan chicken bites
  • 3 Tbsp vegan butter
  • 1 cup hot sauce
  • 5 oz vegan cheese, shredded
  • 1 Tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • salt, pepper to taste
