Reasons to make Baja sauce

Baja Sauce is a wonderful, creamy sauce that isn’t limited to tacos. Dream big and I can tell and vouch this is a winner, also for example with Steak Fries.

What you get is lots and lots of flavors and a really nice kick. Flavors are really on point and that is of course everything that you love and know from amazing sauces like Bang Bang Sauce.

You can make the texture to your own preferences: smother or leave it a bit chunkier. But it will always turns out great.

What you need for this Baja Sauce recipe

I use vegan mayo for a wonderful, rich, creamy base, paired with garlic and onions. These are here for adding essential flavors, because who doesn’t love a well rounded and delicious sauce? Garlic and onions in my gusto make everything more delicious.

Jalapenos and hot sauce: I use them both to add a little spicy kick which complements the other ingredients, while lime juice is in the Baja Sauce for great tang. Simply because it adds another layering of flavor. This tang is also here to give a kind of freshness.

Bell peppers add a great texture, but as I said above you can make Baja sauce entirely smooth or a bit chunky. This is when the bell peppers really shine, because I tested smooth and chunky and everything turns out wonderful.

Oregano, cumin, sugar: these components add tons and tons of flavors, but to balance everything including lime juice we need a little bit of sweetness. I use sugar, but of course use any sweetener you like and want.

Tips and tricks

Instead of lime juice you can also use lemon juice.

For the hot sauce: you can use chili powder or crushed pepper

Leftovers are great for around 5 days.

Quick dinner:

As you can see in my step by step pictures I like to serve Baja Sauce with fish tacos: All you need is some tortillas, lettuce or cabbage and vegan fish which is what I use, but you can use of course any fish that you like and want. Put as much sauce on top as you like, yum.
